SPC Jacob Eric Lang, U.S. Army, age 22, died Thursday morning, March 29, when the motorcycle he was riding struck a pickup truck that turned in front of him. He was in route to his duty station at Ft. Campbell, KY. He was a skilled mechanic recognized as a leader in his unit. He deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan from March 2010 to March 2011 as part of the 101st Airborne’s General Support Aviation Battalion and earned many award and decorations for his service there.
Fiercely independent with the ability to perform under pressure he enjoyed motorcycle riding and maintenance and helping others any way he could. He was a gifted mechanic who enjoyed driving and repairing old trucks and Jeeps (no matter where they broke down) and was known for his creative repairs. As a marksman, he took great pride in competing successfully against other soldiers at base competitions. He was planning on completing his factory certifications for motorcycle and ATV repair upon leaving the Army.
He is survived by his son Juliean and son’s mother Nilee Hasan, Clarksville, TN
